Project Power - Netflix new release!

So this will be my first written review about a movie I just saw, hope you enjoy it and get the Power!

Let me start by recognizing the efforts of Netflix in being inclusive in such a good film. In this movie we get to see the hardships of a black high schooler fighting for her mother and also a Black ex-soldier fighting for his daughter, just in a moment when the BLM movement is huge and widespread, I think Netflix nailed it.

I also have a soft spot for Netflix casting average looking people in some of their productions, I know for sure that it is good for everyone's self-esteem.

Project Power is the story about Robin, a rapper teenage girl in High School who also works on the streets to support her mother with the expensive treatment of her illness; also we have Art, the ex-soldier with PTSD trying to rescue his mighty daughter Tracy, the source of all pills and finally Frank, the machiavellian police guy who is concerned about the increase in crime on his beloved city. Together they will fight against a secret military lab which is testing drugs in New Orleans and apparently someone from the Lab has kidnapped Tracy. During this movie, we see fights, special effects for the powers, characters bonding over stitches, and a little personal growth mostly for Robin.

I really enjoyed the movie, especially the pace and the fact of having things blowing up or going out of control all the time. I liked how Robin was not good following commands as any teen feeling being sort of immortal. Additionally, seeing a couple of big actors such as Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt sharing screen with Dominique Fishback, and the movie allowing her the space for inner reflection and growth was something extremely remarkable. The argument of the movie was easy to follow and for anyone interested, it is a good film, even though is rated from ages +16, it has blood, body explosions but not awkward sex scenes, then watching with your family could be an option. Why should you watch Project Power? The absence of love interests or instance, Robin is all over getting healthcare for her mother, that is her major focus and, for me, it is a refreshing approach.
